The Story

Naomi is eight months pregnant when she’s jailed for unpaid probation fees. Alone in a flickering cell, her labor begins, and something ancient awakens with it. As the contractions intensify, the walls breathe, shadows shift, and ancestral spirits appear: women who birthed in fields, in cells, in silence. Their visions blur horror and history, pulling Naomi into a lineage of survival the system tried to erase.

Born Captive is a psychological and ancestral horror film about the real nightmare of prison birth and a mother fighting to bring her child into the world unclaimed by the state.

Why this Film Matters

Every year, thousands of women give birth behind bars.
Some in shackles.
Some alone.
Some separated from their babies within hours.

Born Captive tells the story they tried to silence.

This film exists to confront that reality.
